Seb had a great retort on a Back Page post on FB. "Hello John, it's Lee. How's your holidays going?" "It's great marra! So have a gotten the job or what?" "No John, you're fired." "Oh..." "Is Steve there with you?" "Aye..." "Then pass him the phone."

In many senses, this is the best appointment fans could have hoped for under Ashley. Of experienced, English coaches available, McClaren is arguably the best of the bunch.
Yet it still smacks of a missed opportunity. It still comes across as jobs for the boys, not helped by the ridiculous decision by the club to only grant interviews to their ‘preferred media partners’.
McClaren needs to hit the ground running to get the fans onside. And already, he’s netted an own goal by going along with the decision to alienate 75 per cent of the media.
Far from building optimism with a positive, upbeat start to his tenure, McClaren is already facing negativity from supporters and media alike. Before he’s even set foot inside the training ground.
Only at Newcastle.(Shields Gazzette)

We all know who pulls the strings so McClaren is as safe an appointment as Mikey and Co could possibly have made given the current state of affairs at The Toon. Penfold has neither the courage nor nous to appoint someone radical or completely left field enough to shake the whole place up so fans end up with what they are given, nowt new there. One thing for sure is that the new Heed Case will need to use every bit of his experience to survive long enough to turn things around. Already looking as though it's going to be a struggle. Anyway regardless of that the guy is here, gets my support until results or further events dictate otherwise and brings with him a far better track record than APee for winning things. Who knows it may for once actually work out, rather than crash and burn as previously.

I think we should petition to get Pardew back, now that we have established it was not his fault and that the fault still remains in Our Beloved Fat Man. Pardew is better than Mary Poppins , as results can tell....with less money and an unfashionable club he is progressing and excelling. Mrs Poppins is realizing that even though he thinks he has a vestige of control he has no control, and is turning an average manager into a dire manager due to restrictions placed from above directly and indirectly. BRING BACK PARDEW....IT WAS NEVER HIS FAULT!
