Have decided we will knot see anything resembling the "Entertainers" while this "Fat Bastard" owns the club. After reading the article from the above post have decided we'll just have to support the "Underachievers"..................................

Its all the Cap'n's fault......cant be Ashley's.............. Even if Ashley sold the club tomorrow which I very much doubt he would, I do not believe anyone would buy it for one simple reason.....

I do agree it does look rather strange! Lets try again, I cannot see anyone buying the club off Ashley even if there was interest for one simple reason. blackandwhitethinking

Okay Capt'n curiosity has the better of me.... So regardless of the huge amount of TV money as both income or added incentive why would no one want to buy The Toon off OMBO? Lights Oot!

Because he will retain the rights to the strip, the badge, the shop, whatever turns him on just the same as he has done to Rangers.

Just to back this up: Craig Houston, of the Sons of Struth supporters' group, said Ashley appeared to have control of every part of the money-making side of the club and has made it "unsellable". He said: "All a buyer seems to have is ticket sales and TV rights."

Interesting Capt'n... I read some similar stuff in a long debate put forward by a business analyst in The Herald just before they were from Ibrox by Decka Lyingbast*rd. While I agree it is a strategy OMBO could adopt there's just a small flaw in him retaining such rights when it comes to their real value against perceived value. It would be very easy to assume holding on to the badge, strip, shop or anything else would guarantee some kind of income. However I for one don't believe it would be that simple. New owners can always change the badge and such is the intense hatred among some fans when it comes to OMBO it probably would be welcomed if it p*ssed him off big time. The same to a certain degree goes for the strip as it only really means anything to the manufacturer that supplies it. Should new owners broker a deal with a different manufacturer to Puma I'm not sure there's much OMBO could do about it. The Club would then have options on who sold it and from where. Mikey keeping the shop probably making little or no difference as far as fans are concerned and making it into a complete waste of space, another opportunity for fans to get back at Mikey for some of the things he has done while at Gallowgate. Anyone thinking of buying the Club will be fully aware of the commercial side of and what it brings in or doesn't for that matter. Let's face it most of the revenue is less than it should be simply because Ashley owns the Club and runs it like a closed shop with SD the major beneficiary. Having to pay for advertising space inside the ground may well knock the smug smile off his face. One thing for sure should someone come calling with the real intent of buying it will be a long drawn out affair, however I don't see them leaving Ashley with any leverage to make a killing only to return. Allowing him to retain all the profitable elements while having nothing to do with the liabilities just appears to me to be counter productive. I firmly believe it will be a case of all or nothing and involve some serious money, after all he's not a billionaire by chance! Lights Oot!

According to a Rangers fan base Arsley has made 9.2mil and the club received 100k from retail revenues sounds like Arsely all over. Why risk all the Aggro of ownership when you can bleed the club dry another way...

The Rangers situation is completely different in one major respect and that is the involvement of shareholders. OMBO is not the major shareholder although he is effectively bank rolling the Gers while ensuring he obtains the most lucrative assets he can get without a big fight. That's why next months EGM is such a big deal and his meeting with the SFA to answer their questions. Not that I believe for one minute the SFA will be able to do much to stop him from putting in place a puppet organisation to do his bidding from afar.
I know I post stuff about the situation North of The Border, however that's as much to see if other people on here are interested or simply keep them informed as it is for any other reason involving The Toon. Personally what is going on with The Gers is totally irrelevant to me and they can go bust again for all I care. I support the Toon and it's only what happens at Gallowgate that really matters, for good or ill.
