Another hat in the ring and one of Canny's favorites................. “It is a club that is very close to my heart and I loved my time there. My four years were the best experience ever. I would love to go back, and I think it is a club that can be near the top of the Premier League and challenging. It is a club that can challenge, for cups and for Europe.

Latest reports on the search for a new Head Case are a bit more interesting that the usual garbage... Newcastle United’s search for a new manager has led them to the door of Real Madrid assistant manager Paul Clement, with the Mirror reporting that the 42 year-old, who has been Carlo Ancelotti’s right hand man at the Bernabeu, has shot to the top of the list of candidates under consideration by Mike Ashley and his staff. Clement, who never played professional football and initially worked as a PE teacher in Sutton in south London, was initially a coach under Ancelotti at Chelsea before being taken to Paris Saint Germain and then Real Madrid by the Italian, who clearly rates Clement extremely highly. It is possibly that Clement could now be considering going it alone, however, with the Newcastle United job being one of the most enticing in English football, despite the difficulties that tend to arise from working under an owner such as Mike Ashley. The report does suggest that Clement is not the only name on Ashley’s shortlist, however, with experienced Dutch manager Dick Advocaat and former Arsenal player Remi Garde, who left Lyon at the end of last season, also under consideration to be the man to replace Alan Pardew, who left the club to join Crystal Palace. It's so off the wall I prey it happens just to see the media and pundits reaction to such an appointment. So what do you make of that possibility? Lights Oot!

Reports circulating that Remi Garde is interested in taking on Toon job. Certainly would be change from usual suspects and may well shake up whole coaching set up should he be appointed.

As Hoddle and Howe distance themselves from taking the role of Head Case at The Toon, providing they were actually in the frame anyway, another surprise candidate comes to Mags attention in the form of Paul Tisdale. You may well ask who the hell is Paul Tisdale? Well I'll tell you... he is currently the manager at Exeter and his main claim to fame, title of the second longest serving league manager after Arsene Wenger. Other than that not a clue about his ability, for good or ill, not that my opinion or many others will make a difference regarding any offer or appointment. Lights Oot!

Reports late last night and this morning suggest Remi Garde is The Toons preferred candidate to replace APee as 'head coach', with the club's hierarchy hoping to formally appoint the Frenchman within the next few days.
Apparently while a large number of candidates have been considered (mainly by the football media) in the last fortnight, Garde is the only person to have met senior Newcastle officials for face-to-face talks. The former Lyon boss met a Magpies delegation that is understood to have included managing director Lee Charnely in London, having previously held a number of telephone discussions about the head coach vacancy at St James' Park.
Mike Ashley, who remains on a family holiday and was not present at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as Newcastle lost 2 - 0 to Chelsea, has been kept abreast of developments.
Garde, who was Arsene Wenger's first signing as Arsenal manager, has indicated a strong desire to take over on Tyneside, but wants to travel to the North-East to see the club's training base and facilities at first hand. That is expected to happen in the first half of this coming week, with formal contractual discussions set to follow as Newcastle's leaders attempt to resolve the current situation before Saturday's game with Southampton.
Caretaker boss John Carver will remain in charge for the visit of the Saints, and has still not given up hope of remaining in his current position until at least the end of the season.
