Here's another name to add to the suspect list...according to Simon Bird of The Mirror Former Stuttgart boss Bruno Labbadia is the latest coach to be contacted by Newcastle, it has been claimed (and denied according to Ronnie Gill). German media have claimed Labbadia has twice been contacted by the Tyneside club who are looking to replace Alan Pardew. Labbadia, a former striker has managed for 11 years including Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen. He has been out of work since August 2013. Also Remi Garde's potential appointment is more complicated than anticipated. He would rather complete his sabbatical and take over with a clean start in the summer. He also wants two members of Lyon back room staff to work with him at United. Newcastle hinted (good word that hinted, FFS!) at the weekend they would continue to speak to candidates early this week, by coach John Carver (always good to get something from an inside source) likely to still be at the helm against Southampton at the weekend. Lights Oot!

In the space of twenty four hours Bernd Schuster has been ruled in and out of contention for the vacant slot. Apparently Toon sources have dismissed talk that the 55-year-old former Real Madrid and Malaga coach has been in discussions over replacing APee. Lights Oot!

Quite a bit of attention now being given by various media sources to Ajax coach Frank De Boer. I suppose with something like 80 names in the hat according to Charnley (aka Charlatan) his is one of the better choices to create interest among fans although I somehow have my doubts he will actually turn up at Gallowgate. I mean who would bet against current employee Carver and some dutch fellow who has won four titles with Ajax. Bound to be Carver.... after all he's a Geordie! Lights Oot!

I've been reading lots on this fellow Frank De Boer and would love to see him get the job but why would someone with his credentials come to a club whose only ambition is to stay up and collect the TV $$$$$, have little say on who to buy, develop talent and then watch it go to the auction block?

I guess this thread can now be put in moth balls until the Summer....with this official news from . Newcastle United can confirm that John Carver will take the role of head coach until the end of the 2014/15 season. Managing director, Lee Charnley, said: "At the beginning of this process it was my desire and intention to appoint an individual to the position of head coach who would be available to start immediately. "Having now explored at some length the options available to us at this time, the decision has been taken to defer the appointment of a permanent head coach until the end of the season. "The head coach will be a long-term appointment that will play a major role in shaping the future on-field progression of Newcastle United and it is vitally important that we get the right individual. "John has a long history with the Club and has the full support of the board. Our goal for the season of a minimum top ten finish remains unchanged and we are confident that John, supported by the backroom staff, will be able to deliver this." John Carver, said: "This is a proud day for me. "I have worked with, and learnt from, the best manager that this football club has had in Sir Bobby Robson. I know what this Club means to this city and its people. I believe in my players and the staff I have around me. "I am confident that we can deliver exciting successful football and look forward with relish to my role as head coach of this great football club." Lights Oot!

So Carver it is (for Our sins). Interesting thing is that Pep Guardiola is refusing to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich. Due to run out in the summer - Wonder if Mashley has noticed. And yes it will never happen

With JC doing such a grand job as Heed Case of The Toon news arrives of another French contender come the summer....for the dream hot seat. Apparently are considering Jocelyn Gourvennec as a replacement for John Carver/Alan Pardew (quite what APee has to do with it is beyond me!) according to L’equipe today. Gourvennec is currently at Guingamp, where Sylvain Marveaux is currently on loan from Newcastle. The report suggests after the job he has done at this tiny club, Jocelyn Gourvennec is now hot property and also catching the eye of other French clubs. So there you have it......I believe Penfold has him down at number 56 on the list of 80. Lights Oot!
