It appears OMBO is really stirring up the natives North of the border if this is anything to go by.
The Scottish FA have set a date of March 2nd for the hearing into charges against Mike Ashley and Rangers. Ashley will face two charges relating to his possible (if it's only possible he will walk all over them) breach of the Scottish FA’s dual club ownership rules. The Sports Direct founder owns Newcastle United and also has an 8.96 per cent stake in Rangers. Rangers’ hearing will see the club faced with three charges - the third of which concerns its relationship with the Scottish FA - and will take place a fortnight later on 16th March. Both parties are alleged to have failed to have acted “in the best interests of football”. Ashley’s influence at the club has grown in recent weeks, after he gave the cash-strapped club a £10m loan with security on the club’s registered trademarks and Murray Park training ground in return. The businessman was prevented from tripling his stake in the club by the Scottish FA in December. Both Rangers and Ashley have been accused of breaching the Scottish FA’s disciplinary rule 19 which states that no one “directly or indirectly” involved with a club “in any capacity” can:
*be a member of another club. *be involved in any capacity whatsoever in the management or administration of another club. *have any power whatsoever to influence the management or administration of another club.
I cannot wait to see what the outcome of these hearings are and if I was a Rangers fan I would be very concerned that the Club may well be back on the slippery slope to oblivion should it go against Mikey. As for that wonderful charge of failing to act “in the best interests of football” I'm still chuckling at that one. Since when have the money men and those governing the game ever acted in the best interests of football? The answer in my view is Never! Google Sepp Blatter or FIFA for further evidence if required.

More stuff from North of the border as the contest to rule Rangers heats up...
Dave King warns Mike Ashley: You won’t get your £10million back if we find dodgy dealings
15:46, 4 February 2015, by Gregor Kyle
The man who would be Rangers’ King fires message to Sports Direct tycoon over his loans to the club.
DAVE KING has warned Mike Ashley he could find himself out of pocket by £10million if "a forensic analysis" of the club’s accounts finds evidence of impropriety.
Outlining his vision for the football club at a press conference this morning, the South African-based shareholder promised a complete investigation of all the club’s recent contracts and business agreements.
A series of loans and bailouts from Sports Direct and Newcastle United owner Ashley have helped keep the club afloat, while effectively handing him control at Ibrox.
And when asked if one of his first jobs on taking over would be to pay off and cut ties with Ashley, King said the situation was not quite as simple as that.
“If Mike Ashley has put £10m into Rangers I expect there to be some cash in the bank,” he said. “It would be quite pleasant to find a bank balance when we got there.
“Would we pay him immediately? We would complete a forensic investigation and if there is something untoward, some form of malfeasance it is quite possible that there could be a claim against any wrongdoer including Ashley.
“In which case I would rather that his money was in the club and I would attach the money in lieu of a claim and not give him it back.
“There are a lot of things we can do, so at the moment, Mike Ashley putting money in is not a bad thing. If there has been some kind of imbalance in the contracts, it is possibly right that he subsidises the club for a while.
“It is something we will have to look at after the EGM, in the interests of transparency.
“This is a period in the football club’s history where something has to come out of the last three years, if the people have acted improperly it should not be swept under the carpet. Fans need to know what went on during that period.”
King was quick to stress that he is not looking to completely close the door on Ashley and that, given his wealth and the nature of his business, he can be of value to Rangers.
However, he believes it is vital that there is an opening of the books and a clearing of the decks and that for Rangers to truly move forward, past sins by anybody have to be addressed.
King, who pled guilty to 41 criminal counts of contravening South Africa Income Tax Act, said: “In South Africa we had the truth and reconciliation commission that worked very well. People didn’t just say, ‘this is a new beginning’.
“There has to be some accountability, not a witch hunt, but if we do discover that anyone has acted improperly, it is important that they are held accountable for that.”
I'm no blue nose but you have to wonder at their supports powers of judgement when comparing former board member King, who was part of the mob that took the Club into administration by almost making it totally insolvent and wor Mikey. To me King is even more of a con man than OMBO. I wonder if anyone up there is saying beware of what you wish for?

More fun and games with the Gers.... Rangers caretaker boss Kenny McDowall sensationally revealed on Thursday that he has been told he must play the five Newcastle loan players added to his squad on transfer deadline day. Toon quintet Haris Vuckic from Slovenia, English defender Remie Streete, Burundi-born Gael Bigirimana, Swiss defender Kevin Mbabu and Northern Ireland winger Shane Ferguson have joined the Ibrox club until the end of the campaign. Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is a shareholder at Rangers with an 8.92 per cent stake, and he and Rangers face hearings before the Scottish Football Association in March over the Sports Direct owner's possible breaches of dual interest rules. Speaking at the Murray Park training centre, McDowall, who has signalled his intent to leave at the end of the season, said: "On Monday night I got a call from Derek (Llambias, Rangers chief executive) saying he had secured five players on loan. "Three of them arrived and two of them will be coming in the next three or four weeks - they are injured. "When I was given the job I was told players incoming and outgoing wouldn't be my responsibility. (Sounds familiar!) "I take the team and coach the team and I am more than happy to get on with it. Asked if he was duty-bound to play them, he replied: "Yes." Then asked if he had to play every one of them every week, he again, replied: "Yes. They are obviously good players - they play for Newcastle - but I will carry on and do what I am told to do." McDowall, who revealed the instruction to guarantee the loan players a game was given to him by Llambias and Rangers football board chairman Sandy Easdale, was asked how the dressing room might be affected. He said: "That's the nature of being at a big club. There are always new players arriving at big clubs and it is something the players will have to deal with. "It is competition and it is up to them and work hard at training and look after their own standards. "I would like to think the players would be professional and do their jobs. We will take it from there. "I have been told what to do and I have told them I am more than happy to carry out what they have told me, so I don't have a problem with it at all. "(The players are not aware at this moment) but they will know now, obviously." (LMAO!!!) Asked how he could be comfortable with the situation, McDowall added: "I have handed in my notice and have told the guys I am happy to take the team. "So I am not going to complain (Nah! whistle blowing much more fun). I will carry out the instructions that they give me and do my best. I have a job to do and I am happy to do it (I also need the payoff money). "The boys have come up to play and they will play. That's just how it is. They are in the squad for Sunday (Scottish Cup tie against Raith Rovers). "I would like the fans to give them their support, they are playing with Rangers after all. "The lads are just here to play football. They are nice lads and look good players. It is not their doing. They are a welcome addition to our squad." The meeting with the SFA and the Rangers EGM should be real bundle of laughs and probably make for better viewing than your average Rangers Championship game. Lights Oot!

The following is from The Guardian business page....
There is a well-known YouTube clip, originally captured by the Match of the Day cameras, that shows the Newcastle United owner and Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley effortlessly downing a pint of lager while watching his team play.
It is the type of personal attention that Ashley is supposed to hate, though this footage conveniently enhanced his man-of-the-people image. But the big man is in line for more of the sort of scrutiny that tends to irritate him this week: Sports Direct is set to unveil its trading statement just at the time when others are training their lenses on the billionaire and his company.
Sports Direct and administrators of the collapsed fashion retailer USC are facing an investigation by the Insolvency Service for the controversial restructuring of the chain – which saw a Sports Direct-controlled division of USC go into administration, offload some staff and then quickly get resold to, er, another bit of Sports Direct. Ashley has been called before a Scottish parliamentary committee to explain it all, and the group is also dealing with the knock-on legal claim by laid-off USC staff. Then there’s another legal challenge, this time from nearly 300 part-time Sports Direct workers who claim they were unfairly excluded from a bonus scheme. If you’re a man who hates the limelight, it’s enough to turn you to drink.
Even more fun if you are a disaffected Rangers fan that was made redundant.

Couple of pieces involving the Gers come my way via RSS feed.... The hate business...No parking the bus...The major difference between The Toon and Rangers in the current power struggle North of Hadrians' Wall appears to be that involving shareholders in the Club. I just wonder how many will retain their oh! so! precious holding should big money come into play as it did when carved up the place among the wealthy. Plenty of dirty fighting to go yet in this one methinks. Lights Oot! blackandwhitethinking

Red Scousers defender Martin Skrtel has failed in his bid to overturn a three-match suspension for standing (sic) on Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. The Slovakia international appealed to an independent panel sitting in judgement on the matter on the basis his action was accidental and not intentional. (Looked very intentional to me) However, reports now circulating state the 30-year-old centre-back’s submission has been rejected and ruled with the charge of violent conduct proven. Skrtel will serve an immediate suspension, meaning he misses league games away at Gooners and home to The Toon either side of the FA Cup quarter-final replay at Blackburn. The defender was charged on the basis of video evidence after referee Martin Atkinson missed the incident in the last seconds of Sunday’s 2 - 1 defeat at Anfield. (Beats the hell out of me they can do this but reject video evidence during a live game FFS!) Skrtel chased a through-ball as 10-man Liverpool searched for a late equaliser, but De Gea slid in to get there first and the defender continued his run and stood on the goalkeeper’s right shin. A three-man panel of former elite (LMAO!) officials reviewed the footage independently of each other and unanimously agreed the offence warranted a red card and, despite Skrtel’s protest, a subsequent ban will now be imposed. Red Scousers departing captain Steven Gerrard is also for their next three games after being dismissed for stamping on Man United’s Ander Herrera during the same game and like Skrtel will be missing against The Toon on Monday April 13th. Lights Oot!
