There's a campaign underway (mainly via social media) to get Toon supporters to boycott the next home game against Spurs, which is also being televised by Sky Sports. Two protest gatherings are also planned for the same day outside The Leazes End (before game 3.30pm) and outside main entrance under the Milburn Stand (after game) with anti Ashley material being distributed beforehand to attendees. Any thoughts on this? Lights Oot!

Protests prior to, during and following games are not the answer. Until people stop going to games, stop buying merchandise and generally hurt Mashley financially he is going to continue spreading woe on us. Trouble is most just accept the miserable situation I will not be setting foot again in SJP until the FCB has gone.

This all happened three weeks after Llambias and the other Ashley installed Director were sacked by the current board which means the wheels were set in motion just before they left. Now Rangers do not own any of their own badges or three quarters of the value of their kit Ashley has trumped them all. Like shit to a blanket, getting rid means digging in not just for one week, it has to be all or nothing, he has to be taken on. Just think the Ashley way for a moment, even if he were to sell I would like to bet he will have earmarked the badge and the kit for himself so whatever happens it is going to be very difficult to get rid of this superbug out of SJP. Just to add a bit of clarity to this discussion the three images are taken from the on line campaign and not of my making. Also don't assume because I posted them that I believe the campaign will work or is well thought through enough to make a difference to OMBO or achieve its main aim of getting him to leave. Fairsy, people have stopped going to games, just sold those tickets to others prepared to accept the conditions OMBO imposes in order to see a game. No particular loyalty to The Mags they just want to say they have been to SJP and seen a PL game. I've not see enough evidence to say anyone not buying merchandise is hitting Ashley financially. If anything it demonstrates again the major change in fans mindset compared to the sixties, seventies and eighties, that they will buy anything to create a sense of belonging, certainly given the numbers wearing the Wonga shirt, which quite honestly is totally beyond me. Canny I agree it does appear a nonsense that if you have already paid for the ticket it's too little too late as OMBO has pocketed the cash. The problem I have with this Boycott is I'm just not sure who it is actually targeting among the support. A section of those that have not renewed will probably boycott as quite simply they have had enough. Missing a few games between now and the end of the season not making much difference to their feelings. The opposite probably could apply to anyone that has renewed for a variety of reasons. It's the one key factor OMBO has had stage managed to perfection, dividing the support! The other problem being The Toon are always one good win away from filling the place. I also have no idea whether he is laughing at me and others like me. Certainly not paranoid enough to believe he actually does or is bothered enough to actually give a toss about me as a person, regardless of whether I shop at Sh*t Direct or support The Toon. Captain, Rangers were in a complete mess before Mikey got involved, he just took full advantage of the situation when he did decide to throw his money into the ring. We will only find out how much of a strangle hold he has on certain aspects of regarding the badge, shirt sales and other merchandising deals when he finally sells up. The thing is they are all specific assets that any prospective buyer of will want for themselves. Any battle against Ashley is going to be a war of attrition and a long drawn out affair to say the least. It has to start somewhere and it's that aspect which I believe this Boycott is focused on. It's an opportunity to display some kind of unity, regardless of whether it's in in front of the TV cameras. Time will tell whether it's successful, but part of me believes whichever way it goes it will be a beginning of sorts. Either, the end of confronting the guy that owns the Club and an acceptance he is untouchable or a demonstration his power base can be affected by getting at him through his sponsors and those around him by making the place toxic. The danger in the latter of course that it may also put off prospective buyers. Personally I'm at the point where it no longer matters as Professional Football in this day and age is all about take and giving very little back, it's about a minority inside the game not the majority following outside, the new TV deal will only make that worse. I still believe a big money buy out is the only answer and that by it's very nature is also something to keep you awake at night, if you are that way inclined of course. WL - How many have stopped going to games? Are we talking thousands upon thousands and is it possible that there is an Equal amount of peple who buy tickets every other week simply so they can say that they have been to SJP ?

Fairsy in all honesty I don't know actual numbers, but I do know plenty of what were supporters that no longer go. Quite who they have been replaced by only the Club will know for sure. However there are a few things Ashley has done over a period of time such as extending the Family section to cover almost all of tier seven, half season ticket offers, three year deals covering price fixing (sic) and other purchasing options. One thing for sure I have never seen as many people wandering around the East Stand with actual paper tickets trying to find where they are sitting as during this season. Will do some digging as bound to be someone out there who is keeping track and get back to you. Lights Oot!
