Just a thought from the frozen North. May have been suggested earlier but why not engage Shearer or Supermac as a striker coach for Mitrovic. Botn are at St. James pretty much every week and I am sure they could assist in polishing our rough diamond. The lad is only 21 and certainly has potensial.

While I agree both could help young Nitro develop it's so obvious to almost be beyond the current hierarchies capabilities...far easier said than done methinks.

Its a pity that Armstrong has not had the opportunities Mitrovich has had. All because Mitro cost a lot of readies.. ATB

Captn, I'm quite pleased Arma is not at The Toon during this phase of his development. So much is expected of the lad it wouldn't have done him much good playing in a side that is struggling. Had he gone through the same lack of goals as Nitro I'm pretty sure the boo boys would have been on his back saying not good enough. Hopefully his time will come in a Newcastle shirt, but for me whether by intent or accident I'm content to see the kid bang the goals in at Coventry and be looked after by a bloke that knows how to handle young players in Mowbray.

From official website.... Newcastle United's longest serving player, Steve Harper, has been appointed as the Club's new Academy goalkeeping coach. The stopper spent 20 years at St. James' Park between 1993 and 2013, making 199 appearances and representing the Magpies in the FA Cup final, Champions League, UEFA Cup and Europa League as well as domestic games. Following his release from Tyneside, Harper spent time at Hull City and Sunderland, but has returned home to start the next step of his career. At the Club's Little Benton Academy, the 41-year-old will work with goalkeepers from under-nine to under-16 level out on the training pitch, as well as helping to create a programme that develops the youngsters in a consistent manner that meets the philosophy of Newcastle United. "I'm delighted to be working with the young goalkeepers at the Academy," said Harper. "I've been involved in grassroots football in the area for the last six years so I have extensive knowledge of the many junior football clubs throughout the region. It's great to be back at the Club in a coaching capacity and I'm looking forward to starting." Lights Oot!
