Reports are suggesting that Newcastle United have had a loan bid for Luuk De Jong rejected by Borussia Mönchengladbach with the club holding out for a sale. Rumour suggests that Newcastle would be prepared to put in a bid to buy the 23 year old if talks go well. Newcastle were first interested in the striker back in 2012 when he was at FC Twente but have so far not commented on this news. What's your thoughts.

Is it just me or does the latest media boll**ks from Appy Arry at QPR involving the price tag of Remy leave a bad taste. I would love to know just who are the Clubs lining up to sign him, particularly now the starting bid price appears to be £16m.
Remy needs to be very careful in judging his next move... rather than believing Arry of the brown paper bag and off shore bank account, perhaps a word with Demba Ba is required.

With the transfer window now into it's ninth day had a quick trawl this morning to see if anything worthwhile raising about The Toon.
Main story circulating appears to be about Newcastle's French international full back Debuchy being wanted by PSG. The massively backed French Club see him as their number one target this January to replace injured Christophe Jallet.
News of Tom Ince being linked with a transfer to Swansea is also doing the rounds. With the Welsh club reported to have held talks with the player and his father about a possible move. Whether this is the first of a series of talks with prospective buyers remains to be seen as Ince is also reported to be linked with a transfer to Spurs. Lets hope that doesn't involve The Toon in yet another bidding war.
Meanwhile no transfer window would be complete without more stuff about incoming players from France. So hardly a surprise another Remy story is storming around the web, however this time it involves former Manure target Remy Cabella who is now talking down his potential transfer away from Montpellier despite that Clubs vice-president stating a bid is expected soon from The Mags for the player. Also on the radar according to highly-respected French newspaper L’Equipe are Lyon midfielder Gueida Fofana and Sochaux striker Cedric Bakambu. The Mags were first linked with the 22-year-old Fofana, a defensive midfielder, three months ago. He is highly rated in France and has also been linked with Marseille and German outfit Stuttgart. A fee in the region of £5m-plus has been mentioned if Newcastle did make a move. Bakambu, also 22, will be allowed to leave his club this transfer window in a bid to bring some much needed money into Sochaux, who are second bottom of Ligue 1. This time a fee of close to £3million has been touted for the young striker, who has scored six goals this season.
One or two sites also have Luuk De Jong stating The Toon is his preferred choice for a move.
APee, Graham Carr and Joe Feckinhere were due to meet in London yesterday to discuss potential transfer targets for this month and the summer. Nice to think JFK is actually doing something to earn his money, FFS!

Local rag The Journal reckons sources in Germany believe The Toon are interested in signing Werder Bremen playmaker Aaron Hunt, whose contract expires in the summer. Although Bremen are keen to retain their longest-serving player, Hunt has told them he will deliver a decision on his future in February or March. According to the Journal that would appear to rule out a cut-price move by Newcastle during January, which is also reported as in keeping with acknowledgement during the latest fans’ forum held on Monday that the club may not do any incoming business while the transfer window is open. However Hunt could sign a pre-contract agreement with the Magpies, with a view to a free transfer come the end of the season.
At 27, the player does not quite fit the profile Newcastle apparently have in place for transfer targets, but with many fans fearing the departure of Yohan Cabaye in the summer, it could be seen as another effort to head off angry reaction at the pass (sic) and show The Club are keen to bolster their creative options by being flexible with their plans.
Hunt is a German International, born to an English mother with family in London, but roots in the North East, and an attacking midfielder who can also operate in wide positions.
But while the player insists he has received no direct contact from potential suitors and has yet to decide his next step, The Journal understands Newcastle could face competition for the player from Stoke City and Southampton. “So far there have been no calls, not even with other clubs,” he said. “The end of January, beginning of February, it will be more specific. If Werder are pushing for a quick decision, I would be set quickly.
“It is then decided in February or March if I renew with the club or leave.
“That someone is at a club for so long hardly happens. I am glad that they (Bremen) appreciate me so.
“I do not say that by no means will I leave the Bundesliga. But when it comes to change, I would appeal to more foreign countries. Bremen’s sporting director Thomas Gauge added: “After the (winter break) training camp, we will accelerate the talks. We want to know in February where we are headed.”
The article also reports that despite suggestions at Monday’s forum that Newcastle may keep their powder dry during January, the club’s scouting network remains fully operational.
That may well be the case, but fans are still left in limbo regarding transfers particularly with United having cooled their interest in Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis after it emerged that his agent is demanding a £1 million fee to handle any deal, yet continuing to be linked with Borussia Monchengladbach forward Luuk De Jong and more recently West Brom’s Shane Long is thought to be another target.
As with most things at The Toon these days it's not what is rumoured to be going to happen that gets fans backs up, but the constant stream of misinformation circulating about the place.
As always I'll only believe someone has signed when I see them pull on the shirt.

Had this forwarded to me on Twitter....
Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez has thanked fans on Twitter, with a tweet confirming he is on his way out of the club.
Not sure if that included Jonas's favourite Toon supporter 'There can be only Juan', but no doubt The Man from Atlanta will reveal all once he get's his arse in gear and registers as a member.
Apparently the 30 year old Argentinian (JOans not Juan) has been a target for both Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers this transfer window after playing just two games for Newcastle so far this season.
He responded to a Tweet asking him what was going on with;
"Thank you mate. It was an honour and a pleasure to play with the newcastle shirt and to have the support of the Geordie."
Adding;
"Thanks for the messages. I enjoy my 5 years at the club, I hope the club finish the highest this season and the best to my team mates."
Tabloid reports last week suggested that the Argentinian was not being played because he had a clause in his contract which grants him a new deal once he hits a certain number of appearances. His current contract lasts until 2015.

Another story circulating this morning is that Papiss Cisse is reportedly ready to quit Newcastle for a big pay day transfer to Qatar. You also almost have to admire the way this kind of thing is reported...well I did say almost so you have been warned.
According to The Sun on Sunday, talks have already taken place about the striker, 28, leaving St James' Park this month.
The player is said to be eager to leave Tyneside but Newcastle are understood to be keen to recoup most of the £9million they spent on the Senegal star.
The hotshot netted 13 goals in 13 Premier League starts following his switch from Bundesliga outfit Freiburg two years ago.
He followed that up with 13 goals last season but has become a bit-part player for boss Alan Pardew following the arrival of Loic Remy in the summer. (Yeah, and the fact he hasn't been able to hit a barn door from two yards when put in the side, FFS!)
This season, Cisse has started just six Premier League games, scoring once.
He'll probably be flagged off side before getting on the plane!
